Ones philosophy can rarely be summed up in a couple of words, but in this case Wabi Sabi comes fairly close. Although Wabi Sabi makes no direct reference to green or eco issues it is obvious that sustainability in the broader sence is well covered. This fits well with Gregs thinking - neither a ludite or 'knit your own sandals' greenie, he is pragmatic while always looking for changes that represent the greatest benefit to the planet and humanity. He feels that the current obsession with carbon seems to be diluting common sense. Put simply, humanity cant continue to consume finite rescources at an alarming rate, conmbine them together in often toxic ways and then throw it all away. There is no 'away'.... we are heading towards no rescources, no energy and a toxic environment. But all is not lost - people dont actually want this to happen, we are just waiting for the corporate (and government) supertankers to turn around. In terms of climate change, the arguement needs a change of focus. Its not about whether humans caused it or not, the question is how do we live with climate change? If we dont get it right, at least our coffins no longer need to add to the problem.
